Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that the Oud Maitha Road and Al Asayel Street development project, part of the Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development, is now more than 60 percent complete. First announced in 2024, this Dhs600 million project aims to cut travel times by up to 75 percent while improving traffic flow across major routes. By 2030, the upgrades are expected to serve over 420,000 residents.
The project includes the construction of four major intersections, 4,300 meters of bridges, and 14 kilometres of new roads. Oud Metha Street capacity will rise from 10,400 to 15,600 vehicles per hour, reducing journey times from 20 minutes to just 5 minutes. Key intersections will feature additional lanes, service road improvements, and multiple bridges to enhance connectivity between Al Asayel Street, Al Khail Road, and surrounding areas. Additional works include left-turn ramps, tunnels, and upgraded bridges to handle increased traffic, particularly at intersections near Zabeel, Al Jaddaf, Oud Maitha, Umm Hurair, Latifa Hospital, and Al Wasl Club. RTA Director General Mattar Al Tayer stated that the project supports key residential and commercial zones while significantly reducing congestion.
Residents and motorists in Dubai can look forward to smoother commutes, safer roads, and faster travel times as the Sheikh Rashid Corridor Development Project continues towards completion.
