MediaTek has officially revealed the launch date for its next-generation flagship processor, the Dimensity 9500, which will be unveiled on September 22, 2025, at 2pm local time (4:30pm IST). This highly anticipated SoC marks a major milestone for the company, as it is the first chipset designed using TSMC’s groundbreaking 2nm N2P process node.
According to the announcement, MediaTek has completed both the design and testing phases of the chip. Mass production is expected to begin in late 2026, making MediaTek one of the first companies in the world to adopt TSMC’s nanosheet transistor-based 2nm technology. The new process promises up to 18 percent higher performance, 36 percent lower power consumption, and 1.2× greater logic density compared to the existing N3E node.
Dimensity 9500 Specifications and Performance
Reports suggest that the Dimensity 9500 will feature an advanced 1+3+4 CPU cluster design. This includes a single Travis core clocked at 4.21GHz, three Alto cores running at 3.5GHz, and four Gelas cores at 2.7GHz. The Travis and Alto cores are part of Arm’s latest Cortex-X9 family, while the Gelas cores are from the upgraded Cortex-A7 line.
Graphics performance is expected to take a significant leap with the inclusion of a Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. This GPU could deliver 40 percent improved efficiency and advanced ray tracing support, enabling mobile gaming with frame rates above 100fps. Additional highlights include a 16MB L3 cache, 10MB system-level cache, SME instruction support, NPU 9.0 with 100 TOPS AI capabilities, LPDDR5x memory at 10,667Mbps, and UFS 4.1 storage compatibility for faster data transfer.
Smartphones Expected With Dimensity 9500
The first smartphones rumored to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 include the Oppo Find X9 series and Vivo X300 lineup. These devices are expected to leverage the chip’s AI power, gaming improvements, and energy efficiency for a premium mobile experience.
Looking Ahead: MediaTek Dimensity 9600 and Beyond
While the Dimensity 9500 will debut MediaTek’s 2nm chipset design, the upcoming Dimensity 9600 could be the first SoC to ship with TSMC’s mass-produced 2nm N2P technology in late 2026. This points to a new era of mobile innovation, targeting not just smartphones but also computing, automotive, and data center applications.
MediaTek’s adoption of 2nm technology highlights the company’s determination to compete with rivals like Qualcomm and Apple in delivering next-gen chipsets that combine raw power with energy efficiency.
