The eagerly awaited trailer for “Mickey 17,” Bong Joon Ho’s latest film following his Oscar-winning hit “Parasite,” has finally been released. Warner Bros unveiled the trailer on Wednesday, featuring Robert Pattinson as an expendable employee on a human expedition. Joining Pattinson in the star-studded cast are Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

In “Mickey 17,” based on Edward Ashton’s novel “Mickey7,” Robert Pattinson plays Mickey Barnes, an expendable worker sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. The trailer begins with Mickey expressing his frustration, saying, “Nothing was working out, and I was trying to get off of Earth.” He understands that each time he dies, a new version of himself will be printed. The plot thickens when Mickey encounters his own duplicate, leading to a tense and humorous dynamic as they struggle to coexist.

The trailer also showcases Pattinson using a unique accent, adding to the film’s intriguing elements. The ensemble cast includes Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo, promising a captivating performance.

“Mickey 17” marks Bong Joon Ho’s first feature film since “Parasite,” which not only became the highest-grossing Korean film in history but also the first non-English language movie to win Best Picture at the Oscars. Originally set for release in March, Warner Bros has rescheduled the film’s debut to January 31, 2025, allowing it to be showcased in IMAX.
