Netflix has officially ended the run of Fubar, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s high-octane action-comedy series, after just two seasons. Despite its strong debut in 2023 and a global fan base rooting for the screen icon’s return to television, the second season failed to sustain momentum, ultimately leading to the show’s cancellation.

Fubar Series Cancelled After Failing to Maintain Season 1 Success

The show, created by Nick Santora, premiered with considerable buzz, with season 1 drawing in an impressive 31 million cumulative views within three weeks. However, the sequel season, which premiered on June 12, 2025, saw a dramatic 76% drop in viewership, recording only 7.3 million views by the end of its third week.

The cancellation came as a surprise to many, especially since lead actor Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to enjoy massive popularity worldwide. Adding to the initial optimism was co-star Monica Barbaro’s rise in fame after earning an Oscar nomination between seasons. Yet, even that failed to keep the audience hooked for season 2.

Plot Overview and Cast

Fubar followed the story of Luke Brunner, a veteran CIA agent on the verge of retirement who finds himself pulled back into the game after a mission to save a fellow operative—who turns out to be his own daughter. The show combined classic spy drama elements with comedic undertones, a formula that worked well in the beginning but lost its appeal in the follow-up season.

The ensemble cast included Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson.

What’s Next for Arnold Schwarzenegger

While Fubar has come to an abrupt end, Schwarzenegger fans still have something to look forward to. The legendary actor is set to star in King Fury 2, the sequel to the cult-favorite action film King Fury (2015), directed by David Sandberg, who also reprises the lead role.
