Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrated their union in 2018 with a lavish wedding that beautifully combined Hindu and Christian rituals. In a recent appearance on the Mythical Kitchen podcast, Priyanka opened up about the emotional memories from their roka ceremony and how Nick instantly connected with her family traditions.
Recalling the intimate pre-wedding ritual, Priyanka shared that she had not anticipated how elaborate the ceremony would be. Her mother, Madhu Chopra, ensured every detail was meaningful. The ceremony featured traditional Vedic chants by priests, a havan kund placed at the centre of the room and low seating arrangements that transformed the space into a sacred setting. Priyanka described walking into the ceremony as stepping into a new chapter of life, saying the emotional weight of the moment truly struck her when she and Nick walked hand in hand after the rituals.
She also revealed how Nick impressed her extended family by embracing the customs wholeheartedly. From chanting “swaha” during the ceremony to confidently playing the dholak, he quickly won the admiration of her aunties. According to Priyanka, their approval meant a lot and added warmth to the occasion.
One of the most touching moments came after the ceremony when Nick told her their bond felt timeless. Referring to the Hindu tradition of seven vows symbolising seven lifetimes, he told Priyanka that being with her felt familiar and comforting, like home.
