Nick Jonas has opened up about one of the most challenging and emotional periods of his life while speaking about the premature birth of his daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. Appearing on the Jay Shetty Podcast the singer spoke candidly about the fragile early days his family faced after Malti arrived much earlier than expected. He described the experience as intense overwhelming and life changing admitting that it is something he has rarely spoken about publicly.

Malti was born significantly underweight and in critical condition requiring immediate care in the neonatal intensive care unit. Nick recalled that she weighed just 1 pound 11 ounces at birth and needed constant medical attention. He shared how the NICU team worked tirelessly to stabilise her and how watching her fight each day deeply impacted both him and Priyanka Chopra.

During the Covid period Nick and Priyanka committed themselves fully to their daughter’s recovery by taking turns doing 12-hour hospital shifts over a span of three and a half months. Nick described the hospital environment as both reassuring and terrifying noting that seeing other families in similar situations created a strong emotional connection. Malti underwent six blood transfusions during her stay but gradually gained strength and weight eventually allowing the family to bring her home.

Nick became visibly emotional while reflecting on how far Malti has come and expressed gratitude for being able to witness her growth and resilience today. The singer said he often feels awestruck watching her now knowing the strength she showed from the very beginning.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra got married in 2018 in Rajasthan and welcomed Malti via surrogacy in January 2022. On the professional front Nick is set to appear alongside Paul Rudd in the upcoming film Power Ballad directed by John Carney which is scheduled for release on June 5.
