OnePlus has officially begun the global rollout of OxygenOS 16 for the OnePlus 12R, starting with users in India and expanding to other regions throughout November 2025. The update, based on Android 16, brings a refreshed Liquid Glass interface, improved system animations, enhanced multitasking tools, and new AI-powered features under the Plus Mind suite, elevating both productivity and user experience.
The OxygenOS 16 update introduces smoother transitions, updated icons, improved haptic feedback, and consistent visual language across apps and menus. Users will also benefit from upgraded multitasking tools, including an enhanced Smart Sidebar, floating windows, and split-screen modes for more efficient workflow. System optimizations include better memory management, stable performance under heavy workloads, and improved background activity handling.
Privacy and security receive upgrades with finer-grained permission toggles, enhanced location indicators, and refined app access notifications. While the camera interface does not gain new hardware-specific features, OnePlus has implemented smoother mode transitions and improved image processing algorithms for enhanced performance. The update is being released in batches, with older devices scheduled to receive OxygenOS 16 in December 2025 and early 2026.
OnePlus 12R users can expect a combination of aesthetic, functional, and AI-powered enhancements, making the update a major step forward in usability, productivity, and overall system responsiveness.
