Pakistan have become the last team to book their place in the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, completing the lineup for the tournament’s crucial second round. The confirmation came on Wednesday after Pakistan registered a dominant victory over Namibia in their final Group A fixture in Colombo.
The comprehensive 102-run win ended all qualification suspense in Group A and officially knocked the USA out of contention. Opting to bat first, Pakistan produced a commanding batting display led by a superb century from Sahibzada Farhan, powering the side to an imposing total of 199 for 3. Namibia struggled in response and were bowled out for just 97, with Shadab Khan and Usman Tariq sharing seven wickets between them in a clinical bowling effort.
With Pakistan’s qualification secured, the Super 8 line-up is now complete. India and Pakistan progressed from Group A, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe advanced from Group B, West Indies and England qualified from Group C, while South Africa and New Zealand emerged from Group D. The remaining group-stage matches will be played over the next two days before the Super 8s begin on February 21.
The Super 8 stage has been divided into two groups. Group 1 features India Zimbabwe West Indies and South Africa, while Group 2 includes Pakistan New Zealand England and Sri Lanka. One of the biggest talking points of the tournament so far has been the shock early exit of Australia, who failed to progress after defeats to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. This marks the first time since 2009 that Australia have not reached the knockout stages of an ICC limited-overs tournament.
India will begin their Super 8 campaign against South Africa on February 22, while Pakistan will face New Zealand in their opening match. With several heavyweight clashes lined up across venues in India and Sri Lanka, the Super 8 phase promises high-intensity cricket as teams battle for a place in the semifinals.
