Priyanka Chopra Jonas is officially making her return to Indian cinema after nearly six years with acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi. The actor will star alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the ambitious project, marking a major homecoming for the global star. During a recent interview, Priyanka also addressed long-standing speculation around her possible involvement in Don 3 and Krrish 4, sparking fresh excitement among fans.
Having earlier played iconic roles in Farhan Akhtar’s Don series opposite Shah Rukh Khan and in the Krrish superhero franchise, Priyanka remains closely associated with both universes. When asked directly about her return to either project, she remained guarded, saying she could not comment on them at the moment. Her co-star Mahesh Babu jokingly suggested that her silence hinted at something developing behind the scenes.
Describing her current phase as creatively fulfilling, Priyanka shared that Varanasi is her first Indian project in almost six years and that returning feels special. She added that she is open to revisiting past characters and franchises if the storytelling feels meaningful and compelling.
Speculation around Krrish 4 has been building steadily following reports that Hrithik Roshan may step in as director, taking over from his father Rakesh Roshan. Industry buzz also suggests Priyanka could play a significant role in the film, although no official confirmation has been made. Interest grew further after Hrithik was seen spending time with Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas in the United States.
Meanwhile, Varanasi has already generated strong anticipation. A teaser released earlier showcased Mahesh Babu as Rudhra in a striking avatar, wielding a trishul and riding a bull. Priyanka portrays Mandakini, while Prithviraj Sukumaran essays the antagonist Kumbha. The film follows a time-travel narrative rooted in ancient mythology, where Rudhra embarks on a global mission to retrieve a powerful cosmic artefact and prevent catastrophic destruction.
