Actor Priyanka Chopra has spoken candidly about the emotional journey she and husband Nick Jonas faced before becoming parents to their daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. The couple who married in 2018 stepped into parenthood in 2022 through surrogacy after experiencing significant challenges with pregnancies.
In a recent interaction with Marie Claire the actor described Malti as her miracle child revealing that her path to motherhood was far from easy. She shared that after enduring difficult pregnancies the arrival of her daughter changed everything in her life.
Malti was born prematurely and spent 110 days in the NICU before finally coming home. Reflecting on that period Priyanka admitted that the experience left a lasting impact on her. She explained that like many mothers of preterm babies she continues to feel protective and anxious especially when her daughter is not physically near her whether at school or while she is travelling for work.
Priyanka also spoke warmly about Malti’s lively personality saying her daughter already loves to sing tell jokes and entertain everyone in the room. She expressed that motherhood has completely reshaped her priorities and that her world now revolves around her child.
The actor had earlier revealed that she felt compelled to announce Malti’s birth publicly after news of the baby surfaced prematurely. During the time Malti was in intensive care Nick would sing to her with his guitar while Priyanka recited sacred mantras including the Mahamrityunjay Mantra and Gayatri Mantra. She often shares glimpses of her time with Malti and has even taken her to film sets including during the shoot of The Bluff.
On the professional front Priyanka is preparing for her return to Indian cinema with SSMB29 directed by S. S. Rajamouli. The ambitious project also features Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran and is reported to be mounted on a massive budget. The film is currently in production and is expected to release in April 2027.
