Qualcomm Launches Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Processors for Next-Generation Smartphones

Qualcomm has officially introduced its latest mobile chipsets, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, during the Snapdragon for India event held in New Delhi. The newly announced processors are designed to power upcoming mid-range and budget smartphones while delivering major improvements in gaming, AI performance, connectivity, and overall device responsiveness.

According to Qualcomm, the new chipsets will soon appear in smartphones from leading global brands including Oppo Realme Redmi and Honor. However, the company has not yet confirmed the official launch dates for devices powered by these processors.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 platform brings significant upgrades over its predecessor. Built on an advanced 4nm architecture, the chipset includes an octa-core Kryo CPU featuring four performance cores clocked up to 2.6GHz alongside four efficiency cores reaching 2.0GHz. Qualcomm claims the processor offers faster app launches smoother multitasking and enhanced gaming efficiency.

Gaming-focused features on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 include Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0 Snapdragon Game Super Resolution and Frames Per Second 3.0 technology. These additions are aimed at improving frame stability graphics quality and battery efficiency during gameplay. The chipset also supports FHD+ displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz for smoother visuals.

Photography capabilities have also been enhanced with support for up to 200MP camera sensors and 4K HDR video recording at 30fps. AI-powered Night Vision technology is included to improve low-light image quality. Connectivity upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 Bluetooth 6.0 Qualcomm XPAN support and Release 17 5G connectivity with download speeds reaching up to 2.8Gbps.

Meanwhile the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset targets affordable smartphones with notable performance improvements. Qualcomm states that the processor delivers faster app loading reduced screen lag and a major boost in graphics performance compared to the previous generation.

This chipset also uses a 4nm process and includes two performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz combined with six efficiency cores operating at 2.0GHz. Gaming enhancements now allow support for gameplay up to 90fps while still supporting FHD+ displays with 144Hz refresh rates.

On the camera side the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 supports up to 108MP image capture dual 16MP cameras with zero shutter lag and features such as intelligent autofocus face detection and electronic image stabilization. Connectivity features include Release 17 5G Dual SIM Dual Active support Wi-Fi 5 Bluetooth 5.1 and Smart Network Select 3.0 technology.

With the launch of these two new processors Qualcomm aims to bring flagship-style experiences including AI imaging smoother gaming and advanced connectivity to more affordable smartphone segments in India and global markets.
