Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have reportedly stepped up security at their Mumbai residence after an alleged extortion threat was received by Ranveer through a WhatsApp voice message. The move comes amid growing concerns over the safety of the actor couple and their family, prompting swift action and police involvement.

According to official communication sent by the housing society to the Dadar Police Station, the couple has deployed six armed security guards outside their residence. In addition to private security personnel, a uniformed police officer has also been stationed at the premises. The letter noted that the armed guards were deployed without prior approval from the society’s managing committee.

The society management has raised concerns regarding the presence of armed personnel in common areas such as the lobby gym and children’s play zones. The committee has requested clarification from the police authorities on whether formal permission was granted and has urged verification to ensure the safety and comfort of other residents living in the complex.

Reports suggest that after receiving the threatening voice note allegedly demanding a large sum of money Ranveer immediately informed the Mumbai Police. Following this complaint security arrangements around the residence were strengthened. Law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation and are currently working to identify and trace the sender of the threat. Officials have stated that more details will emerge as the probe progresses.

On the professional front Ranveer Singh was recently seen in the spy thriller Dhurandhar which emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 and is now streaming on Netflix. The sequel is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19. Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Returns and is set to appear next in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan. The couple welcomed their daughter Dua in September 2024.
