Xiaomi is all set to expand its smartphone portfolio in India with the introduction of the Redmi A5, which is officially scheduled to debut on April 15 at 12pm IST. The device has already made its appearance in Indonesia, and now its Indian variant is confirmed to bring several appealing features, including a 120Hz display, a 5200mAh battery, and three unique colour options — Jaisalmer Gold, Just Black, and Pondicherry Blue.
A promotional listing on Flipkart, along with an official product teaser by Xiaomi, reveals the full design of the upcoming Redmi A5 for the Indian market. It boasts what Xiaomi calls a “Royal Design,” closely resembling the aesthetics of the global model. The phone will be available for purchase via Flipkart and Xiaomi’s official online store.
The Redmi A5 India variant will be powered by the Unisoc T7250 processor, and it is expected to launch with Android 15 Go Edition. According to early leaks and the official website, the device will feature a 6.88-inch HD+ display with TÜV Rheinland eye comfort certification, offering a smooth visual experience thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate.
Xiaomi has also confirmed the presence of a 5,200mAh battery, designed to support extended usage on a single charge. In terms of camera setup, the Redmi A5 will sport a dual rear camera system with a 32-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.
The Redmi A5 price in India is expected to be under Rs. 10,000, positioning it as a budget-friendly option in the entry-level smartphone segment. For reference, in Indonesia, the smartphone is priced at IDR 1,199,000 (approximately Rs. 6,100) for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage model.
It’s worth noting that the newly launched Poco C71 shares many similarities with the Redmi A5. The Poco model is already available in India, with pricing starting at Rs. 6,499 for the 4GB + 64GB variant and Rs. 7,499 for the 6GB + 128GB option.
With eye-catching design, smooth performance features, and a large battery packed into a budget-friendly price, the Redmi A5 is shaping up to be one of the most promising smartphone launches of April 2025 in India.
