Rajasthan Royals delivered a commanding performance to outclass Punjab Kings in a high-scoring encounter, turning the game decisively during a blistering powerplay. Chasing a massive total of 223 runs, RR set the tone early and never allowed PBKS to recover.
The opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again proved crucial, building momentum right from the first over. Sooryavanshi played an aggressive role, attacking bowlers from the outset, while Jaiswal anchored the innings with smart strike rotation and calculated shot selection.
The early overs saw Sooryavanshi take on experienced bowlers like Arshdeep Singh and Lockie Ferguson, hitting boundaries and sixes with confidence. His explosive knock of 43 runs off just 16 balls, including multiple sixes, gave RR a flying start. By the end of the powerplay, the team had reached 84/1, putting immense pressure on PBKS.
After Sooryavanshi’s dismissal, Jaiswal shifted gears and continued the attack. His composed yet aggressive innings of 51 runs off 27 balls ensured RR stayed ahead of the required run rate. He handled bowlers like Marco Jansen and Yuzvendra Chahal with confidence before eventually falling after reaching his half-century.
In the middle overs, Riyan Parag contributed with a steady 29, while Donovan Ferreira played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 52. Shubham Dubey supported him with a quick 31 not out, helping RR complete the chase comfortably in the 19th over.
PBKS bowlers struggled to maintain discipline, conceding runs through loose deliveries and missed fielding opportunities. Although Harpreet Brar managed to control the scoring briefly, it was not enough to stop RR’s momentum.
This performance highlighted a clear strategy against PBKS — attack early and dominate the powerplay. RR’s fearless batting approach sent a strong message to other teams about how to counter one of the strongest sides in the tournament.
