Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar has cautioned people on weight loss journeys to stay alert to so-called “health washed” food products that appear nutritious but may quietly harm both health and budget. In a recent social media post the wellness expert known for working with celebrities like Kareena Kapoor shared eight common diet red flags that signal an unhealthy approach to weight loss.

Rujuta explained that many modern diets replace real home-cooked meals with packaged snacks such as protein bars veggie chips and flavoured drinks marketed as healthy alternatives. According to her these products often contain hidden sugars empty calories and synthetic ingredients that offer little real nourishment while creating a false sense of progress. Sustainable weight loss she says comes from simple balanced meals and consistent routines rather than shortcuts.

Among the warning signs she highlighted are replacing regular treats with protein bars binge eating so-called vegetable chips late at night relying only on packaged probiotic drinks and following restrictive eating windows that leave people constantly hungry. She also pointed out that losing weight at the cost of sleep digestion and happiness is a clear indicator that the body is under stress rather than healing. Persistent cravings bloating mood swings and constant fatigue are additional signs that the diet is not balanced.

Rujuta stressed that health should not feel punishing or exhausting. A nourishing diet should support good digestion stable energy better sleep and emotional wellbeing. She advised people to prioritise fresh home-cooked food over processed products regardless of how healthy the labels appear. According to her the more people depend on health washed products the more likely they are to gain belly fat and spend unnecessarily without achieving long term results.
