Samsung may be preparing to unveil two new true wireless earbuds, as references to the Galaxy Buds Core and Galaxy Buds 3 FE have been discovered in the latest Wear OS update of the Galaxy Buds Controller app. This discovery follows an APK teardown of version 1.0.08.38 of the app, which reportedly lists the names and associated model numbers of the upcoming audio devices.
According to Android Authority, model numbers such as R400, R410, and R420 appear in the updated software. While R400 corresponds to the existing Galaxy Buds FE, the R410 is linked to the anticipated Galaxy Buds Core, and R420 is believed to represent the Galaxy Buds 3 FE.
Though Samsung has not officially confirmed these models, industry speculation suggests that the Galaxy Buds Core could serve as a rebranded or upgraded version of the Galaxy Buds FE introduced in October 2023. Instead of calling the next-generation earbuds “Galaxy Buds FE 2,” the brand might opt for a simplified title—Galaxy Buds Core. These new earbuds are expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Buds 3 FE in the coming months.
Adding weight to the speculation, the Galaxy Buds Core (model number SM-R410) were recently certified on India’s BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) database, hinting at an imminent release. Leaked battery specifications also reveal that the Galaxy Buds Core may feature a robust 500mAh battery case, with each earbud housing a 100mAh battery—an upgrade from the 60mAh cells in the original Buds FE and the 479mAh charging case.
While full specifications are still under wraps, both new models might debut at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company is also expected to showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
The original Galaxy Buds FE, launched at a price of ₹9,999 in India, offered strong performance in an affordable package and were available in White and Graphite. Samsung’s next-gen earbuds are expected to retain the brand’s commitment to high-quality audio while delivering improvements in battery life and smart features.
