Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Surpasses 150,000 Folds in YouTube Durability Test

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, the company’s first triple-fold smartphone, underwent a rigorous durability test by YouTube channel OMG_electronics to check its hinge performance. The phone was folded and unfolded repeatedly over eight days, simulating extreme usage. The first hinge started creaking after about 61,000 folds, while the second hinge showed similar sounds around 121,000 folds. By 144,000 folds, the hinges had lost some elasticity, requiring additional force to keep the phone fully open.

Despite these hinge issues, the Galaxy Z TriFold display continued to function throughout the test. The aggressive testing far exceeded typical daily usage, which involves far fewer folds over several years. Samsung claims the device can handle up to 200,000 folds, equivalent to 100 folds per day for five years, although this is below the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s durability rating of 500,000 folds. The test confirms that the Galaxy Z TriFold hinges and display remain operational even under extreme folding conditions.
