Samsung is preparing to unveil its highly anticipated triple-screen foldable smartphone, which may debut as the Galaxy Z TriFold by the end of 2025. Recent leaks suggest the tech giant is sticking with its popular Galaxy Z branding rather than creating a new Galaxy G series. The foldable device, internally codenamed Q7M and carrying the model number SM-F968, is expected to be released in limited markets.

Tech insider Max Jambor hinted that Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold phone will likely be called the Galaxy Z TriFold, aligning it with other foldables in the Z lineup. He shared this potential name via a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. Meanwhile, renowned tipster Ice Universe revealed on Weibo that the smartphone could officially launch in October, shortly after the September debut of Huawei’s next Mate XT Ultimate model, a rival tri-fold device.

According to previous statements by Samsung Mobile President TM Roh, the tri-fold handset is slated for launch by year-end and has reportedly entered mass production stages. When fully unfolded, the smartphone could feature a stunning 9.96-inch display, while a more compact 6.54-inch screen would be visible when folded. Performance-wise, it is rumored to be powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and packed with a silicon-carbon battery for improved energy efficiency.

In terms of design, the phone might feature an innovative G-style inward-folding mechanism, making it a direct competitor to the likes of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design—the only commercially available tri-fold handset at present. Additional features could include a flat profile, 8K video recording capabilities at 30 frames per second, and a triple rear camera setup.

The triple-display phone was initially teased during Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2025. Although many anticipated it would be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the second Unpacked event of the year, the tri-fold model appears to be on a slightly delayed yet exciting trajectory.

With this move, Samsung aims to set a new benchmark in the foldable smartphone market, delivering cutting-edge innovation and performance in a form factor previously untouched by mainstream brands.
