Samsung is reportedly on track to launch its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone before the end of this year. This innovative device, which could be branded as the Samsung G Fold, was originally teased during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in January. Although fans expected it to be revealed alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 at Samsung’s recent summer showcase, the launch did not materialise at that time.

According to a report from The Korea Times, TM Roh, the President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Division, has confirmed that the company is determined to bring its first tri-fold phone to the market by late 2025. Roh highlighted that Samsung’s priority is to perfect the design and ensure top-notch usability for consumers. He also noted that while the name for the foldable device has not yet been finalised, a decision will be made soon as the product nears completion.

Adding to the anticipation, an unnamed Samsung executive reportedly revealed to Android Authority that the tri-fold phone is now moving into the mass production stage. The executive also stated that the company is carefully evaluating market demand for this new multi-folding form factor.

The tri-fold design, teased briefly at the Galaxy Unpacked event, positions Samsung in direct competition with Huawei’s Mate XT, which remains the only tri-fold smartphone currently available for purchase. Rumours suggest that Samsung’s model may initially launch in select markets, including China and South Korea.

When folded, the device is expected to feature a 6.54-inch display and could expand to a massive 9.96-inch screen when fully unfolded, offering users a tablet-like experience in a compact form factor. Industry leaks also indicate that the phone may come equipped with a silicon-carbon battery to improve power efficiency.

TM Roh also emphasised that Samsung will continue to explore diverse folding form factors to enhance user experiences, especially in conjunction with AI-powered features integrated across its Galaxy ecosystem. As 2025 progresses, Samsung fans around the world will be watching closely for the official reveal of this cutting-edge tri-fold foldable phone.
