Samsung is reportedly preparing to reveal its highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, where the tech giant is also expected to launch its next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phones, along with the Galaxy Watch 8 series. According to new leaks from tipster Instant Digital on Weibo, the South Korean company could showcase its first-ever triple folding phone — rumoured to be called the Galaxy G Fold — but customers may have to wait until October to get their hands on it.

If the rumours hold true, this would mark Samsung’s official entry into the tri-fold segment, a year after rival Huawei grabbed headlines by launching the Mate XT Ultimate, the world’s first commercially available tri-fold phone. While Samsung has not officially confirmed plans to release a tri-fold model, the company has previously teased flexible and innovative folding displays under various concept names like Flex Slidable, Flex S, and Flex G.

The tipster suggests that although the Galaxy G Fold could be unveiled next month, its sale might be delayed by a few months — echoing Samsung’s strategy with the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this year, which was revealed at a Galaxy Unpacked showcase but launched for purchase later. Reports claim the tri-fold smartphone could be priced above $3,000 (roughly Rs. 2.56 lakh), putting it among Samsung’s most premium foldables to date. It might even adopt cutting-edge silicon-carbon battery technology, hinting at better power efficiency and longer lifespan than traditional lithium-ion cells.

Besides its foldables, Samsung is also expected to provide fresh updates about its next-gen Android XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, at the same Galaxy Unpacked event. This could include hints about Samsung’s broader plans for the extended reality ecosystem, possibly alongside early previews of advanced AR glasses the company has reportedly been developing.

Samsung has been a pioneer in the foldable space since it first introduced the Galaxy Z Fold line, and this rumoured tri-fold phone could cement its leadership amid increasing competition. With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Galaxy Watch 8, and potentially a groundbreaking Galaxy G Fold in the pipeline, Samsung’s upcoming event promises to be one of its most exciting launches yet.
