Samsung is reportedly preparing its One UI 8.5 update for Galaxy devices, expected to launch in early 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 series. Early leaks suggest that this update will focus on lock screen improvements and visual refinements to enhance the overall user experience.
The One UI 8.5 update is likely to introduce new clock styles on the lock screen, allowing users to personalize their devices with a refreshed design. In addition, a blurred effect for lock screen notifications is expected to improve readability by reducing visual clutter and ensuring that alerts stand out against wallpapers. These design tweaks aim to create a cleaner, more modern interface that aligns with Samsung’s aesthetic standards.
Reports also indicate that Good Lock’s LockStar module will receive upgrades, offering Galaxy users greater customization options for their lock screens. Furthermore, Samsung is testing One UI 8.5 on international variants of the Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S25, and Galaxy Z Fold 7. The update may include a redesigned Phone app, enhancements to the Gallery, My Files, Camera, and tweaks to the battery indicator, improving both functionality and usability.
Initially, One UI 8.5 will debut on the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Pro, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, before expanding to additional eligible Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Users can expect a smoother, more visually appealing experience with better customization and interface consistency across Samsung devices.
