Samsung is reportedly working on its One UI 8.5 update, expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026. Leaks from the beta APK suggest the update could include a Network Battery Saver feature designed to extend battery life by managing network activity during periods of inactivity.
According to reports, the new feature will leverage Samsung’s Personal Data Intelligence, an AI-driven system that monitors user behavior to optimize network usage and provide personalized suggestions. This could allow phones to conserve battery automatically when idle, such as during sleep or periods of low usage.
The One UI 8.5 update is also expected to introduce AI-powered call screening, which can automatically generate replies and manage calls when users are busy. Additionally, the update may bring visual enhancements including new lock screen clock styles, blurred backgrounds for lock screen notifications, and improved lookup table (LUT) profiles with five built-in styles.
Beta testing for One UI 8.5 is reportedly underway on global versions of the Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S25, and Galaxy Z Fold 7. While the initial rollout is likely to coincide with the Galaxy S26 launch, older Samsung devices may receive the update in the following weeks.
With these new features, Samsung aims to improve battery efficiency, enhance the overall user experience, and bring intelligent network and AI capabilities to its flagship devices.
