Samsung is preparing to launch its first tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, later this October during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in South Korea. The highly anticipated device was first teased at Galaxy Unpacked 2025 in January, generating excitement among tech enthusiasts worldwide.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to feature a triple-screen design with a G-style inward folding mechanism. When fully unfolded, the device may offer a 9.96-inch display, giving users a tablet-like experience, while the folded form is anticipated to measure around 6.54 inches. Under the hood, the smartphone is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and equipped with a silicon-carbon battery.

Photography enthusiasts may appreciate the triple-camera system, including a 200-megapixel primary sensor, while the phone will likely run Android 16 with One UI 8. Initial production could be limited to 50,000 units, and the rollout may focus on South Korea and China.

Samsung, which has been a pioneer in foldable devices since 2019, aims to expand its Galaxy Z series with this innovative tri-fold model. Competing only with Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design and Mate XTs, the Galaxy Z TriFold could redefine the foldable smartphone market and reinforce Samsung’s position as a leader in mobile technology.

The unveiling at the APEC summit, scheduled in Gyeongju from October 31 to November 1, will showcase the phone to global attendees and set the stage for a new era in foldable smartphone innovation.
