The highly anticipated Squid Game season 2 trailer is finally here, giving fans a thrilling preview of what’s to come. Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456, is re-entering the dangerous survival arena. The new season will premiere on Netflix on December 26.
In the newly released trailer, the creators of the globally popular series unveiled a glimpse of Seong Gi-hun’s return to the deadly games. Gi-hun, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, has a clear mission. When asked why he’s back, he responds, “I’m trying to put an end to this game.” After his victory in the first season, Gi-hun returns with the intent to stop the brutal competition. Armed with the grim understanding of the game’s true nature, he aims to persuade other participants to withdraw and end the deadly contest, while also striving to save their lives.
Netflix provided an official synopsis stating that the story is set three years after Gi-hun’s win. “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 abandoned his plans to move to the States and returned with a new determination. Gi-hun dives back into the mysterious survival game, engaging in another life-or-death struggle with new players aiming for the 45.6 billion won prize,” the synopsis reads.
