South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad has offered high praise for India’s T20I side, calling them one of the finest teams the format has ever seen following their 3–1 series victory in Ahmedabad. Conrad, who attracted attention earlier in the tour for his controversial “grovel” remark during the Test series, put any rivalry aside to acknowledge India’s dominance in white-ball cricket.
Speaking after India sealed the series with a convincing 30-run win, Conrad reflected on the depth and intensity of the Indian lineup. He highlighted how India’s batters apply pressure from the very first ball and how their bowling unit boasts several match-winners capable of turning games at any moment. While he stopped short of declaring them the outright best team of all time, Conrad admitted it was difficult to name many sides that could match their overall quality and consistency.
India’s recent T20I record further supports his assessment. The team has remained unbeaten in T20I series for more than two years and enjoyed a flawless run at the last T20 World Cup, where they emerged as champions. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, India has navigated squad changes seamlessly while maintaining an elite level of performance. Despite minor questions around combinations ahead of the next T20 World Cup, co-hosted with Sri Lanka, India have firmly established themselves as the benchmark in the format. Conrad concluded by stating that he could not honestly think of a better side at present, underlining the challenge India pose to every opponent going forward.
