Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset is shaping up to be one of the most powerful mobile processors ever created. According to recent leaks, the next-generation flagship chip could feature LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage, promising a major leap in both performance and efficiency. The chipset is rumored to be built using TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm N2P process, a significant upgrade from the 3nm technology used in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

A popular tipster on Weibo, known for accurate smartphone-related leaks, revealed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (internally codenamed SM8975) will deliver improved power management and faster performance compared to its predecessor, the SM8850-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The new 2nm process is said to bring up to 36% greater energy efficiency and 18% faster processing speeds, making it ideal for next-generation flagship smartphones.

The chipset is also expected to push the cost of flagship phones higher due to the advanced technology and materials used in its design. With the addition of UFS 5.0 storage and LPDDR6 memory, users can expect lightning-fast app loading times, enhanced multitasking, and improved data transfer speeds.

According to TSMC, the N2P node provides a 5% performance boost compared to the previous N2 process and delivers 1.2 times logic density and 1.15 times chip density compared to the 3nm N3E architecture. This advancement not only enhances chip performance but also ensures greater thermal efficiency — a key factor for gaming and multitasking.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is expected to debut at Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit next year, powering premium devices from brands like OnePlus, iQOO, Realme, Nubia, and Xiaomi. As smartphones continue to evolve toward higher efficiency and processing capability, this new chipset could mark a pivotal moment in the future of mobile innovation.
