OpenAI has rolled out a major update for its Sora app on iOS adding creative tools that give users more control over how they build characters and video stories. With this update anyone in the United States can join the platform for a limited time without needing an invite code. The latest additions include Character Cameos enhanced video stitching and new leaderboards designed to increase creativity and community engagement.
The Character Cameo feature allows users to create reusable characters by uploading short video clips and audio from pets objects or even drawings. After creating a character users can assign a name define personality traits and specify guidelines for what the character should or should not do in generated content. They can also choose visibility settings making the Cameo public available only to approved users limited to mutual connections or completely private. There is an upper limit to the number of characters a user can create to maintain performance and quality.
The update also introduces a powerful video stitching function that makes it easier to combine multiple short clips into a single seamless video. Sora automatically applies transitions and other effects to blend clips together smoothly allowing creators to generate structured narratives and longer videos directly within the app.
To further enhance engagement OpenAI has added leaderboards highlighting the most active and creative contributors on the platform. Separate leaderboards showcase the most Cameod users the most remixed accounts and the leading Cameo characters on Sora creating a competitive and fun environment for the community.
OpenAI is also working on expanding platform access and users may soon be able to try the Sora app on Android devices. With continuous features being introduced the Sora experience is becoming more personalized interactive and collaborative as AI-generated videos evolve into a mainstream creative tool.
