Taylor Swift has released the official music video for her latest single Opalite offering fans a playful and imaginative visual story. The video features Taylor in a surreal romance with a large rock while actor Domhnall Gleeson appears as a man emotionally attached to a cactus. Graham Norton also makes a special appearance linking the video directly to the show where the original idea was born.

Taking to her social media Taylor shared that the concept for the Opalite video came to her unexpectedly while she was appearing on The Graham Norton Show during promotions for The Life of a Showgirl. She described the show as one of her favourites praising its relaxed dinner party style format where guests casually chat often over wine. According to Taylor that creative spark struck during the episode when she was seated alongside an impressive group of fellow guests including Domhnall Gleeson Cillian Murphy Greta Lee Jodie Turner Smith and Lewis Capaldi.

Taylor explained that during the conversation Domhnall jokingly mentioned wanting to appear in one of her music videos. Although said in fun the comment immediately triggered an idea in her mind. Within a week she had written a script for Opalite and reached out to Domhnall offering him a starring role. She then expanded the idea further imagining a video that included everyone who appeared on the Graham Norton episode including the host himself describing it as a school group project for adults but without obligation.

The singer shared her excitement that many of the guests agreed to participate recreating a nostalgic 1990s inspired atmosphere. Taylor noted that familiar faces from The Eras Tour also appear in the video adding to the fun. The project reunited her with acclaimed cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto and was shot entirely on film. Taylor described the experience as joyful creative and deeply fulfilling saying it allowed her to make new friends explore visual metaphors and embrace bold fashion choices.

The Opalite music video is currently available to stream on Spotify Premium and Apple Music. Taylor’s team confirmed that the video will be released on YouTube on Sunday February 8 allowing even more fans to experience the imaginative story behind the song.
