Tecno Camon 40 Series to Receive Android Updates Until Version 18, Five Years of Security Support Confirmed

Tecno’s latest Camon 40 series was introduced at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, featuring multiple AI-powered enhancements and high-speed performance capabilities. The lineup consists of Camon 40, Camon 40 Pro, Camon 40 Pro 5G, and Camon 40 Premier 5G, all running on Android 15 with HiOS 15 out of the box. Tecno has now officially announced that these devices will receive three major Android OS upgrades up to Android 18 and five years of security patches to ensure long-term software support.

Tecno confirmed via an X (formerly Twitter) post that the Camon 40 series will receive Android updates for three generations, reaching Android 18. In addition, the company guarantees five years of OTA security patches, ensuring extended software protection and performance optimization.

The Tecno Camon 40 series introduces a One-Tap Button, which provides instant access to the Ella AI personal assistant and FlashSnap mode for rapid photography. The lineup is packed with advanced AI features, including:

  • Circle to Search by Google
  • AI Eraser 2.0
  • AI Writing and AI Translate
  • AI Image Extender and AIGC Portrait 2.0
  • Call Translation and Call Summary

Display and Camera Capabilities

The Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, while the Pro 5G and Premier 5G variants feature an enhanced 144Hz refresh rate. The Premier 5G model has a slightly smaller 6.67-inch AMOLED panel.

For photography, the lineup includes high-resolution camera sensors:

  • Camon 40 & 40 Pro: 50MP primary sensor + 8MP ultra-wide lens, 50MP selfie camera (Pro variant), 32MP front camera (standard model)
  • Camon 40 Premier 5G: Triple 50MP sensors (main, telephoto, ultra-wide) + 50MP selfie camera

Performance and Battery

The Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro 4G run on the MediaTek Helio G100 Ultimate chipset, while the Pro 5G and Premier 5G models are powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate and Dimensity 8350 Ultimate chipsets, respectively.
