Netflix has finally unveiled the much-awaited first teaser for The Witcher Season 4, marking Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill’s departure from the role. The fantasy series returns on October 30, 2025, with all eight episodes dropping at once, promising fans another thrilling journey through the Continent.
The one-minute teaser shows Geralt, now played by Liam Hemsworth, facing off against a ghostly wraith. Initially striking with his sword, he quickly realizes the blade is useless against the spirit. Geralt then turns to his Witcher Signs—first using Aard to knock the wraith back, followed by Yrden to trap it in a magical field. When neither spell succeeds, Geralt ultimately reaches into the creature’s chest, crushing the glowing core and dissolving the wraith into black dust. The sequence sets the tone for a darker, more mystical season ahead.
While the teaser highlights Liam’s intense portrayal of the iconic monster hunter, fan reactions remain divided. Many longtime viewers continue to express their fondness for Henry Cavill, who embodied Geralt in the first three seasons. One fan remarked, “Liam looks like his brother here… it feels like Thor just walked into the Continent! I’ll give him a chance, but Henry was perfect in this role.” Another added, “It’s like Pirates of the Caribbean without Johnny Depp.” Still, several others praised Liam’s appearance and the teaser’s atmosphere, saying they were intrigued by the fresh take.
Alongside Liam Hemsworth, the returning cast includes Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and Anna Shaffer as Triss. New additions to the cast include Laurence Fishburne, who joins the series in an undisclosed role, alongside Eamon Farren, Mimî M Khayisa, and Cassie Clare.
With its October 30 global release date, The Witcher Season 4 is set to bring epic battles, complex character arcs, and the continuation of the saga that fans have followed since 2019. While Cavill’s absence is felt, Netflix hopes Liam Hemsworth’s fresh interpretation will breathe new life into the franchise and keep audiences hooked for future seasons.
