Former NFL icon Tom Brady has candidly acknowledged a significant parenting misstep following his high-profile divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen. During a recent appearance on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, the seven-time Super Bowl champion admitted that his decision to participate in the controversial 2024 Netflix roast left a negative impact on his children—a mistake he deeply regrets.

The 47-year-old athlete revealed that the roast’s content especially the explicit jokes targeting his personal life and the children’s mothers was deeply upsetting to his family. Brady shares his eldest son Jack 17 with actress Bridget Moynahan and has two younger children Benjamin 15 and Vivian 12 with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen. “What was the point of that?” he recalled his kids asking after the roast aired. Reflecting on the aftermath Brady called the experience a tough lesson that felt like “a stake through the heart.”

Brady openly admitted that while he thought the roast would be lighthearted and fun it turned out to be a parental misjudgment. “There’s some things as a parent you mess up and you don’t realize until after” he said. “Like ugh.” He added that the consequences of his decision made him reflect deeply on his priorities and responsibilities as a father.

This isn’t the first time Brady has expressed remorse over the Netflix special. In May 2024 he discussed the same issue on The Pivot podcast where he noted how the jokes and media attention affected his children emotionally. Back then he stated that the ordeal taught him a powerful lesson and would ultimately make him a “better” and more mindful parent.

Brady emphasized how difficult it is to foresee the emotional toll certain actions can have on loved ones. “It’s the hardest part about the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all of a sudden you realize I wouldn’t do that again because of how it affected the people I care about the most in the world” he concluded.
