Tom Cruise and Glen Powell Reunite at Twisters Premiere, Sparking Top Gun 3 Speculation

Date:

Tom Cruise and Glen Powell, who shared the screen in the 2022 hit Top Gun: Maverick, recently reunited at a London screening of Powell’s upcoming disaster film, Twisters. Cruise posted a photo on his social media of the two holding popcorn with Twisters posters, captioned, “Fun night with friends, watching a movie!!” Cruise sported a casual look with a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans, and a black jacket, while Powell donned a black suit.

Glen Powell is currently enjoying a wave of success, with recent hits like Anyone But You and Richard Linklater’s Hit Man. His career resurgence can be traced back to his role in Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick, where he played Lieutenant Jake Seresin, aka Hangman.

At the Twisters premiere, Powell also shared the photo on Instagram, captioning it, “When your wingman follows you into the storm…” The post drew enthusiastic responses from fellow actors, including Aaron Paul, who commented, “Obsessed with this. Two legends,” and Octavia Spencer, who posted fire emojis. Daisy Edgar-Jones, Powell’s Twisters co-star, also left exclamation marks. The official Top Gun Instagram account commented, “Our Maverick and Hangman (applause and airplane emojis).”

Fans of the Top Gun franchise expressed their excitement, with many hoping for a third installment. Comments included, “Waiting for Top Gun 3,” “Maverick & Hangman (emotional emojis),” and “Okay, we got it. Top Gun 3 is on the way, right?” Another fan wrote, “Top Gun reloaded (fire emoji).”

The original Top Gun, directed by Tony Scott and released in 1986, introduced Tom Cruise as the daring naval aviator Lieutenant Pete Mitchell, aka Maverick. The highly anticipated sequel, Top Gun: Maverick, came out over 35 years later in 2022, solidifying Powell’s role as Hangman.

As fans eagerly await potential news of Top Gun 3, Tom Cruise continues to thrill audiences with his role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible installment, while Glen Powell’s Twisters is set to hit theaters on July 19.
