Tom Cruise is allegedly growing frustrated with Nicole Kidman’s repeated mentions of their shared past, even in discussions related to their professional work together. According to a report from InTouch Weekly, Cruise finds it perplexing that Kidman often brings up their time together, even when it involves their collaborative projects.
The Hollywood icons were married from 1990 until 2001, during which they adopted two children, Isabella and Connor. Despite their divorce over two decades ago, Kidman continues to reference their time together in various interviews. For instance, last month, while discussing the inspiration behind their work on Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, Kidman told the Los Angeles Times that the director was interested in exploring ideas rooted in their marriage. She recalled Kubrick’s words on navigating complex dynamics, saying, “Triangles are hard. You have to tread carefully when it’s a triangle.”
In a similar vein, Kidman mentioned in an October 2020 New York Times interview that she and Cruise were “happily married” during the making of the film. Although Kidman has moved on and is now married to country singer Keith Urban, sources say Cruise is annoyed by her continued references to their past, which he wishes to leave behind.
An insider close to Cruise revealed, “Tom has long closed that chapter of his life and doesn’t understand why Nicole keeps bringing it up, especially since she seems content with her current life.” The source added that while Kidman views her comments as simply answering career-related questions, Cruise feels that she enjoys revisiting details about their past.
Despite Kidman’s considerable success post-divorce, including winning Oscars, some believe that her marriage to Cruise played a significant role in catapulting her to stardom. However, the insider notes that Cruise is reaching a point of frustration, feeling that Kidman’s willingness to discuss their history when convenient is unfair and makes him feel exploited. “He wishes she’d avoid those questions, as he does,” the source concluded.
