Abu Dhabi: 65,000 Books Distributed to 220 School Libraries Under UAE Presidential Initiative

In a significant move to promote literacy and foster a culture of reading among students, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the distribution of 65,000 books to libraries at 220 schools across the UAE. This initiative follows the 33rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and aims to enhance educational resources in schools.

The initiative, supported by a financial grant, involved purchasing titles and publications from 77 publishing houses that participated in the book fair. This effort not only enriches students’ knowledge but also supports the local and international publishing community.

Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the importance of the Arabic language and its rich literary heritage. “Our language is a powerful and inclusive tool for innovative and critical thinking, enabling us to unite in our thoughts and words,” he said. “This vital and generous grant from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will encourage reading and the protection of our language, help us foster deeper understanding, and bridge the many cultures and people who speak it, ensuring that our collective wisdom continues to guide future generations.”

The distributed books aim to support school libraries in creating an environment where reading is encouraged and valued. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote education and cultural understanding in the UAE, ensuring that students have access to diverse and comprehensive literary resources.
