The UAE has officially declared 2026 as the Year of the Family, introducing a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening family life and improving everyday experiences. From cost-saving benefits to lifestyle enhancements, several new measures have been rolled out to support families across Dubai and the wider UAE.
One of the most attractive offerings is the expansion of Fazaa discounts to all families with at least one child. Previously limited to government and semi-government employees, this program now allows families to access reduced prices on attractions dining hotels and various leisure activities throughout the city. Registration is simple and approval is typically completed within a few days.
Public transportation has also become more family-friendly under the new initiatives. Through the RTA’s Family First programme, students and senior Emiratis can enjoy discounted fares while seniors benefit from free parking. Special nol cards have been introduced for the Year of the Family and thousands have already been distributed to students. Additionally people of determination receive multiple exemptions including free public transport no Salik charges and reduced taxi fares making mobility easier and more inclusive.
To further support households flexible work arrangements have been introduced for caregivers employed in the federal government. Parents who are eligible can work remotely during periods when children are engaged in distance learning particularly for younger students and nursery attendees. This step aims to help families better balance professional responsibilities and childcare needs.
Dubai has also launched the region’s first dedicated recreational vehicle route encouraging families to explore the outdoors together. This initiative includes a connected network of RV-friendly stations parks and scenic routes across desert beach and mountain landscapes offering a unique way to travel and spend quality time together.
These initiatives highlight the UAE’s commitment to creating a supportive and enriching environment for families while encouraging stronger connections and improved quality of life throughout the year.
