The UAE is gearing up for its inaugural indoor Spartan obstacle race, bringing one of the region’s toughest fitness challenges inside a climate-controlled venue. Spartan Middle East, known for organizing iconic races like the Trifecta and Dawn ’til Dusk events in Dubai, is now launching a new competition in Abu Dhabi.
Scheduled for Saturday, September 20, the race will take place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island. Participants will face a fast-paced 3-kilometer course featuring 15 of Spartan’s signature obstacles designed for speed, endurance, and accessibility. The majority of the race will unfold indoors with a small outdoor segment included for added excitement.
Young competitors will also have dedicated events, with a 1-kilometer course for children aged 4 to 6, a 1.5-kilometer race for ages 7 to 9, and a 3-kilometer course for ages 9 to 14. All finishers will receive a Spartan t-shirt, a medal, and a banana at the finish line to refuel.
Earlier Spartan events in the UAE attracted thousands of participants, with over 5,500 at Bab Al Shams and 6,000 during the January Trifecta weekend at Dubai Parks and Resorts. This new indoor race, supported by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, offers athletes a chance to prepare for the annual Spartan World Championship, which Abu Dhabi hosts every November.
Registration is now open for all age groups, promising an intense yet rewarding experience for fitness enthusiasts and obstacle race fans alike.
