The upcoming Vivo S50 lineup is expected to debut in China this November introducing major upgrades over the previous S30 series. Fresh leaks suggest that the series will include two models Vivo S50 and Vivo S50 Pro Mini both focusing on premium photography features including a powerful periscope telephoto camera and a 50 megapixel front camera for sharper selfies.
Reports claim that the standard Vivo S50 will come with a 6.59 inch flat display offering a crisp 1.5K resolution while the compact S50 Pro Mini is tipped to feature a 6.31 inch AMOLED screen with the same resolution. Both models are expected to support a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and house an ultrasonic in display fingerprint sensor within a sturdy metal frame for a premium feel.
Photography upgrades appear to be the key highlight of the new series. The S50 model is rumored to include a periscope telephoto lens equipped with a flagship level contact image sensor designed to deliver superior zoomed shots and optical image stabilization. Meanwhile the S50 Pro Mini could also pack a triple camera setup featuring a similar periscope zoom lens along with a high quality 50 megapixel front camera for detailed selfies and video calls.
The smartphones are expected to be powered by a flagship grade chipset with performance scores surpassing 300W according to leaked benchmarks. Earlier reports suggest that the S50 Pro Mini might include the advanced MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor a chip previously spotted in the Vivo X200.
Vivo has intentionally skipped the S40 name due to cultural beliefs in China where the number four is associated with bad luck. Pricing details remain under wraps but based on the cost of the previous generation buyers can expect competitive pricing when the S50 series officially arrives.
