Vivo is generating buzz in China with the upcoming launch of its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5. While the official release date remains unannounced, a top Vivo executive has provided an exciting teaser on Weibo, showcasing key innovations and confirming several premium specifications of the device.
The Vivo X Fold 5 will feature advanced 8T LTPO panels on both the main foldable inner screen and the external display. These displays are engineered to reach an impressive 4,500 nits peak local brightness, supporting high refresh rates, precision color accuracy, and TÜV Rheinland global eye protection 3.0 certification. The displays are also certified with Zeiss Master Color for professional-grade visuals.
One of the standout features of the Vivo X Fold 5 is its extraordinary durability. It meets IP5X dust resistance and IPX9+ water resistance ratings. According to Vivo, the device can withstand being folded and unfolded 1,000 times underwater at a depth of one meter. The phone is also designed to remain functional in extreme cold, operating normally even at -20°C.
This foldable flagship is expected to be thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 3, which weighed 219g. Reports suggest the new model will weigh just 209g. It’s anticipated to sport a massive 8.03-inch inner foldable display and a 6.53-inch cover screen. The rear camera module is rumored to house triple 50-megapixel sensors for professional-grade photography.
Under the hood, the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, coupled with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The device is also rumored to pack a 6,000mAh battery supported by 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging.
As Vivo ramps up teaser campaigns in China, the anticipation for the Vivo X Fold 5 continues to build, promising a fusion of design innovation, durability, and powerful performance.
