Vivo is gearing up to launch its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 5, in China on June 25. The tech brand has officially confirmed several exciting features of the upcoming device, which include a record-breaking 6000mAh battery, a periscope telephoto lens, and enhanced durability features.
According to the teasers shared on Weibo, the Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to set a new benchmark in the foldable phone segment by offering the largest battery ever seen in such a device. The previous model, the Vivo X Fold 3, came with a 5500mAh battery, making this new upgrade significantly more powerful. This foldable device also features support for extreme conditions, functioning even in temperatures as low as -30°C, thanks to its cutting-edge second-generation semi-solid-state battery technology that uses a fourth-gen silicon-carbon anode with up to 12 percent silicon content.
In terms of display, the Vivo X Fold 5 will include advanced 8T LTPO panels offering 4500 nits of local peak brightness and high-frequency PWM dimming across both internal and external screens. The foldable phone is expected to be thinner, lighter, and structurally stronger than its predecessor.
The design showcases three sleek color options — Titanium (black), Quingsong (white), and Baibai (green) — with a Zeiss-branded triple rear camera module. Notably, it includes a periscope telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom and is claimed to perform well even in extremely cold weather.
Vivo has also highlighted the device’s durability with certifications that include IPX8, IPX9, and IP5X ratings for water and dust resistance. The Vivo X Fold 5 is also said to be compatible with the Apple Watch, expanding its utility and ecosystem reach.
Pre-orders are now open in China via Vivo’s official website and various e-commerce platforms, building anticipation ahead of the formal unveiling.
