Vivo has officially announced the launch date of its upcoming smartphone, the Vivo Y500, confirming that the device will debut in China on September 1, 2025. The new addition to the company’s Y-series will bring a huge 8,200mAh battery, advanced durability certifications, and a rugged design aimed at users who demand reliability and long-lasting performance.
Huge Battery and Extreme Durability
The Vivo Y500 will be powered by a massive 8,200mAh battery, designed to handle extreme conditions. According to Vivo, the smartphone offers up to 16.7 hours of continuous video playback at -20°C and nearly 17 hours of navigation at 40°C. Even after 18 hours of usage, the device reportedly retains 37 percent battery power, highlighting its exceptional endurance.
The handset has passed SGS Gold Label five-star drop and impact resistance certification and has undergone rigorous testing, including 62,000 micro-drop trials and granite drop tests from 1.7 meters on multiple edges and corners. It also comes with an IP69+ rating for dust and water resistance, making it one of the most durable phones in the Y-series lineup.
Design and Color Options
Leaked images and official teasers show the Vivo Y500 featuring a circular rear camera housing and a hole-punch display. The smartphone will be available in three colors – black, blue, and pink – giving users stylish choices while maintaining rugged functionality.
Successor to Vivo Y400 and Y300
The Vivo Y500 succeeds the Y300 and Y400 models, which launched in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The Vivo Y300 came with a 6,500mAh battery and 44W fast charging, while the Vivo Y400 introduced a 6,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging. The Y500 significantly pushes the boundaries with its larger battery capacity and enhanced durability.
