Netflix has officially announced that Wednesday season 3 is in development, promising more Addams Family drama, returning fan-favorite characters, fresh faces, and another chilling mystery set in the eerie world of Nevermore Academy. The streamer made the announcement in July 2025, even before season 2 began streaming, signaling their strong commitment to one of their most successful shows.
Co-creator and showrunner Alfred Gough revealed that the creative team aims to make season 3 the strongest chapter yet, with a deeper exploration of characters and further expansion of the supernatural world. His fellow co-showrunner Miles Millar teased that fans can expect to see more Addams Family members and uncover long-hidden family secrets in the upcoming episodes.
While an exact release date remains under wraps, production delays like those experienced during season 2—caused partly by the WGA strikes in 2023—are not expected to be as severe this time. Still, viewers may need to wait a couple of years before the next season lands on Netflix.
Cast changes and returns
Season 3 will see the return of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Ritchie Santiago, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, Steve Buscemi as Principal Barry Dort, and Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump.
Confirmed departures include Jamie McShane as Donovan Galpin, Christina Ricci as Laurel Gates, Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Rachael Fairburn, and Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe.
What to expect in the plot
Although Netflix has kept the storyline under wraps, fans anticipate Wednesday’s return to Nevermore Academy to tackle yet another strange mystery. Millar’s promise of more family revelations suggests season 3 will delve deeper into Addams Family history and lore.
The episode count has not been confirmed, but it is likely to follow the previous seasons with eight episodes.
Currently, part 1 of Wednesday season 2 is available for streaming on Netflix, with part 2 set to follow later in 2025.
