Hollywood star Will Smith recently opened up about his spiritual journey, sharing how the stories from the Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharata, particularly Arjuna’s tale, provided him with profound insights during challenging times. In a 2022 episode of Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Will discussed how reading various holy texts helped him through difficult periods, including understanding perplexing situations involving loved ones.
Describing Arjuna, Will said, “Arjuna, known as the finest archer, faced immense turmoil when he had to battle his own kin. His family deceived him, usurped his kingdom, and dishonored his wife. Despite being a formidable warrior capable of reclaiming his kingdom, Arjuna was deeply troubled by the betrayal from those he loved and trusted, including his uncles, in-laws, and teachers.”
Will further elaborated, “An army was raised to fight Arjuna, and despite his devastation, he remained pious. This army, the greatest ever assembled, underestimated one crucial fact: God was guiding Arjuna’s chariot. They believed they could easily defeat him, unaware of the divine presence with him.”
Fans were thrilled by Will’s deep understanding of the Mahabharata. One Instagram user remarked, “It’s incredible how well Will knows the Mahabharata and Arjuna’s story.” Another commented on his delivery, “The way he says ‘Except that they don’t know that GOD is driving Arjuna’s chariot’ is just perfect!”
Several fans appreciated his knowledge, noting that he has read the Mahabharata in depth rather than just watching TV adaptations. A fan commented, “He knows Mahabharata more than today’s Gen Z,” while another said, “His explanation of the Mahabharata is the most perfect I’ve ever heard.”
