The 15th edition of the Archer Film Festival will spotlight influential voices in the entertainment industry, with a special panel focused on the evolving role of women behind the camera. The event is set to take place on April 17 at the Pacific Design Center.
The discussion panel, titled Women Behind the Camera: Shifting Power in Film, will feature prominent figures including Lynette Howell Taylor, Sara Murphy, and Nastasya Popov. Together, they will explore how influence and leadership within the film industry are transforming, particularly through the contributions of women shaping storytelling and production systems.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president, Lynette Howell Taylor, brings extensive experience as a producer, having worked on acclaimed projects such as A Star Is Born and The Accountant. Meanwhile, Sara Murphy recently earned industry recognition with an Oscar win for producing One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Filmmaker Nastasya Popov, known for her breakout feature Idiotka, adds a unique perspective as both a creative voice and a founding member of the festival. Her work gained attention following its premiere at SXSW 2025, where it was later acquired for distribution.
The Archer Film Festival continues to stand out as a student-driven initiative aimed at empowering female filmmakers and promoting diverse storytelling. This year’s edition has attracted more than 300 submissions from over 50 countries, reflecting its growing global reach.
In addition to the panel discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to watch selected finalist films. The festival is supported by major industry players, further highlighting its importance as a platform for emerging talent and underrepresented voices in cinema.
The upcoming session is expected to provide valuable insights into how women are redefining leadership and creative control in film, making it a key highlight of this year’s festival program.
