According to a leak shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Xiaomi 16 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, making it potentially the first device to debut with this powerful processor. The chipset is likely to be officially launched during the Snapdragon Summit scheduled for late September, which aligns with Xiaomi’s expected unveiling of the Xiaomi 16 series around the same timeframe.

The upcoming flagship may feature a 6.3-inch flat OLED screen with ultra-thin bezels on all sides, offering a sleek and immersive visual experience. It is also tipped to run on Android 16, layered with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3.0 interface. In comparison, the Xiaomi 15 shipped with HyperOS 2.0.

One of the most talked-about features of the Xiaomi 16 is its advanced triple rear camera setup. Leaks suggest it will include a 50MP primary sensor with a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with macro functionality. This setup is similar in design to the Xiaomi 15 but may deliver enhancements in processing and detail capture.

The device is also said to bring a substantial improvement in battery life. While the Indian variant of the Xiaomi 15 carried a 5,240mAh battery and the Chinese version had a 5,400mAh unit, the Xiaomi 16 is reportedly set to feature a battery with a capacity exceeding 6,500mAh.

Xiaomi is rumored to reveal the Xiaomi 16 and its Pro variant in late September or early October in China, with a global release expected in early 2026.
