Zachary Levi Says Hollywood Is Distancing Itself After His Support for Donald Trump and Political Views

Date:

American actor Zachary Levi has opened up about feeling excluded from Hollywood due to his political beliefs and outspoken support for current U.S. President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with Variety, the Shazam! star shared that certain individuals in the entertainment industry have expressed a reluctance to work with him, citing his opinions as the reason.

Levi disclosed that while no specific names were mentioned to him, his team made it clear that several people in the industry prefer not to associate with him at the moment. He expressed his disappointment but noted that he anticipated such a reaction. “It’s unfortunate. I knew that was probably going to happen. I didn’t make this decision blindly or casually,” he said.

Levi has become increasingly aligned with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who publicly endorsed Donald Trump during the 2023 presidential campaign. The actor’s political stance has stirred debate on social media and within industry circles, especially after he publicly agreed with a tweet labeling Pfizer as a “real danger to the world.” The post drew criticism from fans and health experts alike.

His views have led to a visible shift in how he’s perceived in Hollywood. Notably, several of his Shazam! co-stars such as Rachel Zegler, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Asher Angel, along with director David F. Sandberg, have unfollowed him on social media. His former Broadway co-star Laura Benanti also called him out for his anti-vaccine statements, adding, “F**k you forever,” and stating she never liked him.

Despite the controversy, Levi denies being officially “canceled.” In a December 2024 episode of Club Random with Bill Maher, the host suggested that Levi might have been canceled over his Trump support. Levi dismissed the claim with a laugh, saying he hoped he hadn’t been canceled yet and confirmed that none of his current projects had been impacted.

Earlier this year, in February, Levi appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show to discuss his political shift. He credited Tulsi Gabbard as a major influence in his decision to support Donald Trump during the 2024 election. Speaking about the potential cost to his acting career, he said, “I felt peace because I knew that this was more important than saving my career.” He added that society often makes decisions based on fear and self-preservation, but sometimes sacrifice is necessary for greater good.
