7 Important Changes in Dubai This May 2026 That Residents and Visitors Should Know

Date:

Dubai is set to introduce several key updates in May 2026 that could impact daily life travel and entertainment across the emirate. From new safety rules to major events and travel changes here is a complete guide to what’s happening in Dubai this month.

One of the biggest updates comes from a joint initiative by Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority. A new Personal Mobility Monitoring Unit will begin operations to regulate e scooters bicycles and e bikes. The unit will enforce helmet use speed limits and safe riding practices while issuing fines for violations across cycling tracks and roads.

Meanwhile Global Village is preparing to close its doors for the summer season on May 10 marking the end of its milestone 30th edition. Visitors have limited time left to enjoy the attraction before the seasonal shutdown.

Air travel is also expected to see improvements with more international airlines gradually resuming multiple daily flights to and from Dubai International Airport. This comes as regional airspace conditions continue to stabilise offering better connectivity ahead of the busy summer travel period.

Dubai’s entertainment scene is bouncing back as well with major concerts returning including a highly anticipated performance by Swedish House Mafia at Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour Experience bringing large scale events back to the city.

In aviation policy updates the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority has introduced new passenger rights guidelines covering flight delays cancellations and baggage handling. The framework applies to airlines operating from both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.

Another major highlight is the upcoming Eid Al Adha holiday which is expected to begin around May 26. With the addition of the weekend residents could enjoy up to six consecutive days off making it the longest public holiday of the year.

Finally banking regulations have tightened as the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates has prohibited financial institutions from using WhatsApp and similar platforms for customer communication due to security and data privacy concerns.

These updates reflect Dubai’s continued focus on safety innovation and enhancing quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
