Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri, alongside French partner Albano Olivetti, claimed the men’s doubles title at the ATP Swiss Open in Gstaad. The duo emerged victorious against the French team of Fabrice Martin and Ugo Humbert with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 10-6. This marks Bhambri’s third ATP title, all in the 250 series, and the second title this year for the Bhambri-Olivetti partnership, following their win at the Bavarian Championships (BMW Open).
Their win at the Swiss Open took one hour and six minutes to secure. As the third seeds in the ATP 250 clay court tournament, Bhambri and Olivetti showed resilience, especially after losing the first set. They rallied to level the match and dominated the deciding tie-breaker.
Bhambri’s first ATP title came at the 2023 Mallorca Championships, where he partnered with Lloyd Harris. Following this recent victory, Bhambri is expected to climb higher in the doubles rankings, having already reached the top 50 on June 24.
The Indo-French duo reached the final without dropping a set, while their opponents, Martin and Humbert, had upset the top-seeded Jamie Murray and Adam Pavlasek in the quarter-finals. Despite a slow start in the final, Bhambri and Olivetti’s comeback secured their win.
Earlier in the month, the pair faced a second-round exit at Wimbledon, losing to Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz in a closely contested three-set match.
