Rising music artist D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has been taken into custody in connection with the death of a teenage girl in Los Angeles, according to police officials.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 21-year-old was arrested by its Homicide Division and is currently being held without bail. Authorities stated that the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for further legal action.
Reports indicate that the arrest took place in Hollywood after investigators obtained a warrant based on probable cause. The case relates to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing for an extended period before her remains were discovered.
Her body was found in September 2025 inside an abandoned Tesla located at an impound lot in Los Angeles. The vehicle was reportedly registered to Burke. Authorities were alerted after a strong odor was noticed, prompting further investigation by homicide detectives.
Medical officials later confirmed that the remains belonged to the missing teen, stating that the body had been inside the vehicle for a prolonged duration. Prior to this discovery, Hernandez had been missing for nearly 18 months.
Investigators had previously identified D4vd as a person of interest in late 2025 before formally making the arrest this week.
The artist gained popularity through platforms like TikTok and SoundCloud in 2022, later achieving mainstream success with songs such as Here With Me and Romantic Homicide. He went on to perform alongside SZA and appeared at major events including Coachella in 2025.
In 2025, he released his debut album Withered, which explored themes of grief and emotional struggle. The investigation into the case remains ongoing as authorities proceed with legal steps.
