Justin Baldoni’s Billion-Dollar Legal Battle Against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Comes to a Close After Court Dismissal

Date:

The long running legal feud involving actor director Justin Baldoni and Hollywood stars Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds has officially ended as a US court dismissed Baldoni’s massive lawsuit. The decision follows his failure to comply with a deadline requiring him to revise and refile his claims effectively closing the case and stopping further proceedings.

The dispute first gained attention in late 2024 as allegations and legal filings between the parties surfaced. In the latest ruling signed on October 31 by US District Judge Lewis Liman of the Southern District of New York the court noted that Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios did not respond to an earlier order issued on October 17 which questioned why the matter should remain open. The lack of response resulted in a final judgment confirming the end of the lawsuit.

This dismissal comes after several previous setbacks for Baldoni. Earlier in June 2025 his initial claims were rejected when the judge stated that the accusations linked to statements made in Blake’s legal complaint and a New York Times report were safeguarded under litigation and journalistic privileges. The court found no legal foundation for his defamation or extortion accusations.

Although the high profile dispute has now concluded Baldoni still retains the option to appeal pending the court’s separate consideration of Lively’s request for reimbursement of legal expenses. The legal confrontation began after Blake Lively filed a lawsuit in late 2024 accusing Baldoni of inappropriate on set behavior during the production of their film It Ends With Us which he directed and appeared in. Her complaint detailed unsettling experiences including physical misconduct and unwanted remarks about her personal life.

With the case now dismissed the Hollywood controversy appears to have reached its legal conclusion while audiences await potential future developments through appeals or related motions.
