David Harbour Cast as Major Trautman in ‘John Rambo’ Prequel Alongside Noah Centineo

Date:

David Harbour has officially joined the cast of the upcoming action film John Rambo, stepping into the pivotal role of Major Trautman. The film, backed by Lionsgate and Millennium Media, will be directed by Jalmari Helander, known for his work on the gritty Sisu films.

The project serves as an origin story set before the events of First Blood, the movie that launched the legendary Rambo franchise starring Sylvester Stallone. In this new installment, Noah Centineo takes on the role of a younger John Rambo, portraying the soldier during his early days in combat before becoming the iconic lone warrior audiences know.

Harbour’s character, Major Trautman, is Rambo’s commanding officer and a significant influence in his life. The role was originally portrayed by Richard Crenna in the original trilogy, where he served as a guiding and stabilizing presence for the battle-hardened protagonist.

Filming for John Rambo has already wrapped in Thailand as of March, with the screenplay written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. Production involves multiple studios including Templeton Media and AGBO, with executive producers such as Sylvester Stallone and filmmaking duo Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.

Currently, David Harbour continues to gain recognition for his recent performance in DTF St. Louis and has several upcoming projects in the pipeline, including Avengers: Doomsday, Violent Night 2, and Evil Genius. He is also working on A Head Full of Ghosts, another project under Lionsgate.

With a strong cast and experienced production team, John Rambo is shaping up to be a highly anticipated addition to the action genre, offering fans a deeper look into the origins of one of cinema’s most iconic characters.
